Director, editor and animator

Trained between Milan, London, and New York, Amaranta Medri is a visual storyteller working across video, animation, and image-making. Her practice moves fluidly between commissioned work and personal research, spanning film, photography, illustration, and digital interventions.

With a background in Graphic Design & Art Direction from the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and Pratt Institute in New York, her work is defined by a delicate balance between observation and imagination.

Reality often becomes a starting point – subtly altered through poetic gestures, unexpected shifts in scale, and dreamlike narratives. Her visual language is intimate, refined, and slightly surreal – creating spaces that feel both familiar and distant, where the ordinary transforms into something quietly magical.

Artist works

Her work has been exhibited and recognized across both photographic and video art contexts.

She has been selected for four consecutive years at Scatti per Bene, awarded second place in the video art category at the Art Rights Prize, and won the New Post Photography Award at MIA Photo Fair in 2021 with the project Drone Alphabet.

In May 2025, she presented her first solo exhibition, Cartoline da un Altrove, at Carlo Cinque Gallery in Milan.

Her practice is defined by a distinctive visual language -imaginative, refined, and slightly surreal – creating atmospheres that feel both intimate and suspended, where reality is gently transformed with a subtle sense of irony.

May 2025, Carlo Cinque Gallery

My first solo exhibition, exploring the power of images to transform and reimagine reality.

Between photography and video, the works move through suspended landscapes and subtle interventions — where the familiar shifts into something else, somewhere just beyond reach.
